Alessandra Corona Performing Works, founded by the Italian dancer and choreographer Alessandra Corona is coming back to the The Theater at St. Jeans in New York with W2! (Women Too!), “Just Joy” and “InnerAction”.

New York – After the successful performance at Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center in Brooklyn, Alessandra Corona Performing Works is coming back with “W2! (Women Too!)”, “Just Joy” and “InnerAction” to The Theater at St. Jeans in NYC on June 1st and 2nd.

W2! (Women Too!) explores the evolution of the male/female dynamic in history from a contemporary man’s point of view. Through experiences of women from different periods and cultures, the audience will witness the transformation of women’s status over time and how this has influenced men’s behavior. Choreographed by Manuel Vignoulle, W2! also explores the corresponding changes in gender roles and how the boundaries between sexual identities have become more fluid.

Just Joy is a collaboration with the artists celebrating the stages of life. It aims to show how even in times of difficulties and sorrow, dance will always bring passion and joy. The original music is by the American composer Thomas Lentakis and music by Elena Ledda (“Amargura” & “Sa Lughe”).

InnerAction is a voyage of consciousness and an exploration of relationships without emotional barriers. How truthful can we become in moments when we relax our emotional defenses? To enhance the capacity to feel the moment, performers and the audience are invited to focus their attention on suggestive images, in the form of short video clips which will be projected randomly.

Alessandra Corona, the founder of Alessandra Corona Performing Works, is from Cagliari Italy (Sardinia) and was trained in ballet at the National Ballet Academy in Rome. She also studied Graham, Limon, Cunningham and Jazz techniques (Luigi, Matt Mattox) at the Renato Greco School. In Italy she danced for ASMED Ballet Company directed by Paola Leoni, Renato Greco Dance Company, Vittorio Biagi, and Gino Landi (RAI TV).

Upon moving to New York, Alessandra became principal dancer with Ballet Hispanico for 12 years, originating roles in ballets by Ramon Oller, Ann Reinking, Vincente Nebrada, Christopher Gillis, Graciela Daniele, David Rousseau, Maria Rovira and others.

With Ballet Hispanico, Alessandra performed in their regular season at the Joyce Theater and at other major New York Theaters, and toured with the company throughout the USA, Europe, and South America.

For more than 25 years Alessandra has taught ballet, modern, and jazz techniques in Italy and in the USA.

In 2012 she founded “Alessandra Corona Performing Works” where she directs and performs in her own productions.

I started “Alessandra Corona Performing Works” in New York City to create and develop new multi-disciplinary projects. My goal is to make artistic works that integrate dance, music, theater, video and film arts, for presentation in the United States and around the world. My passion is to create art collaborating with high-level professional artists from different performing art disciplines. I have assembled remarkable and unique artists.

Alessandra Corona is now an artist resident to the The Theater at St. Jeans under the artistic direction of the Italian Antonio Boccia.

She will be at the Seattle international dance Festival on June 8th.
