Accomplishment of the One-Hundred-Day Competition Special Promotional Event for Jinjiang District in the City of Nottingham

The Special Promotional Event for Jinjiang District in the City of Nottingham organized by the people’s government of Jinjiang District of Chengdu Municipal was launched in the City of Nottingham in the UK at 10 o’clock on the 10th of May 2019. The secretary of Jinjiang District CPC Committee, Lizhang Chen, had introduced wonderfully with vivid images and emotions about the City of Chengdu and Jinjiang District to guests from a wide range of local sectors, including government, business and academic circles. His speech drew a clear picture of the promising future for investment and major industries in Jinjiang and Chengdu, which familiarized the guests with the key southwestern city of China and its best district while the confidence in further cooperation of both cities is strengthened.

Through the promotional event, Jinjiang District demonstrated its international advantages in investment and business environment and achievements brought by the opening up policy. It is going to push Jinjiang further on the road of achieving the goal of developing a New Economic Highland and Internationalized Urban Area.

To Promote and Demonstrate the Charm of Jinjiang from Different Angles

Nottingham, where the Special Promotional Event for Jinjiang District was hold, is known as “the city of science” of the UK. The event lasted for nearly two hours, where the delegates from Jinjiang District government made key introductions of its local industrial development progress and the project of building the Town of Bailuwan New Economic Headquarters. About 60 guests were invited and attended the event, including Mr. Robert Dixon, the Head of Business Growth and International Strategy of Nottingham City Council, Executive Director Ms. Claire Urry from the China-British Business Council, and representatives from the world-famous enterprises and organizations such as the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, Leftlion, Redsmith Distillery, Simbrix, George and Dotty together with Chinese representatives from British universities, overseas Chinese organizations and medias.

Secretary Chen pointed out that Chengdu is a city with profound history and a developed economy. It is one of the major centre cities in China and the centre of economy, science and technology, finance, culture and creativity and foreign exchanges. It is also an integrated transportation and communication hub. And Jinjiang District, as the business, commercial, finance and culture centre of this city, has long been recognized as the best place to enter the local market. In recent years, Jinjiang District has been taking proactive approach to catch the critical new opportunity of the new round of technology revolution and industrial restructuring to construct the “1+1+3” leading industrial system (which refers to focusing on the development of headquarters economy and new economy while making key efforts to improve the performance of business, commerce and financial service sectors and the cultural and creative industry). The district is also committed to accelerate the progress of building the Town of Bailuwan New Economy Headquarters and devoted to establish a New Economic Highland and Internationalized Urban Area in the city, which could provide multinational enterprises with a full range of investment services.

UK Representatives: Looking Forward to Further Cooperation with Jinjiang District

Robert Dixon, the Head of Business Growth and International Strategy of Nottingham City Council, commented that the government leaders of Sichuan Province and Chengdu Municipal have paid a visit to Nottingham last year, so he hopes the communication and cooperation between the two cities could be enhanced and deepened through this promotional event for Jinjiang District.

Other representatives from globally recognized large enterprises and those from local businesses and organizations have also expressed their wishes to attend more events like this and interest to understand further about Jinjiang District. Key Collaboration Agreement Signed and Multiple Channels Established to Attract Businesses on Both Sides

Before the event, Jinjiang District has just signed a Memorandum of Understanding and a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with the UK Satellite Application Catapult and the Sichuan Centre of the UK. An awarding ceremony for the Overseas Resident Business Importing Contact Office of Jinjiang District was also hold in London, during which, CEO Alice of the Sichuan Centre was offered the title of “the ambassador for Business Importing of Jinjiang District”.
